Tunisian Crochet Market Bag

Tunisian crochet market bag with a Tunisian crochet hook

This was my first Tunisian crochet project, and it was a great first project for someone coming from crochet and knitting. It was part of my market bag saga, though a different style from all the rest of them.

I followed along with the video-based Haekelgold Tunisian Crochet Market Bag pattern. It starts with some straightforward back-and-forth rows (with a little variation for the handle-hole) before getting to the heart of the pattern, an over-under mesh.

I was feeling rebellious right from the start and used a knitting long-tail cast-on because I don’t love working into chains—it worked great and I have zero regrets.

The yarn was nice and squishy and didn’t separate easily, so I was happy despite my occasional miss of the over-under pattern—it took most of the project before I could “see” the stitches and know what I was looking at.

Love Letters

Every so often I write a letter to my favorite curious people—new experiments, what’s working, what spectacularly isn’t, and first dibs on workshop dates. And yes, I mean a real letter: paper, envelope, your actual mailbox. No firehose, no spam, just the good stuff—handmade and slow, on purpose.

Can be your first name, a nickname, “hey you”…
Enter it exactly as it should appear on the envelope to get to you, including your name and country.
Optional, if you want the ability to update this information later.

Your address stays with me—never sold, never shared, just used to send you letters. Stop anytime, no hard feelings. Privacy
